In 1990, a vision became a reality when we set out to build a payroll processing system that was designed specifically for service bureaus. As former executives —and owners— of one of the largest payroll companies in the United States, our founders combined their in-depth and diversified experiences with a burning drive to succeed and formed Payroll Associates.
The initial result of their hard work was PayChoice®, one of the most highly regarded PC payroll production systems on the market. In 2001, PayChoice Online was introduced, bringing the great features and benefits of PayChoice to the web.
The launch of PayChoice Online was soon followed by Online Employer, which brought Employee Self Service Tools, HR Reporting, Time sheets and GL export functionality to our web toolset.
While PayChoice was designed to provide employers with the features they need and want, it has also proven to be extremely reliable, processing payrolls quickly, accurately and profitably. Having processed more than 100 million paychecks, PayChoice became the system of choice by the most successful payroll service bureaus in the country. But PayChoice was just the beginning. As the marketplace changed, so have we.
In 2004, Payroll Associates was purchased by a new team led by payroll innovator Bill Scott and investors Great Hill Partners, Baird Venture Partners, and North Hill Ventures. With a significant investment, Payroll Associates has developed many new alliance products from which our licensees can profit. We believe our biggest achievement is Encore, our newest payroll technology. With Microsoft.net architecture and a SQL 2005 back end, Encore brings payroll scale and flexibility to a completely new level. Designed to make running a payroll service bureau easier, Encore includes automated cash management functionality and tools never before available.
